Easter Sunday is a great opportunity to invite people to your church. Because of family tradition, many people outside of your four walls are already thinking about finding a church to attend on this special day. Now all you need is a way to let them know that you’re there! Here are eight ideas to spread the word about your ministry in your community and equip your congregation to invite their friends.

1. Invite Card Carabiner

Invite cards are the perfect way to equip your congregation to spread the word about your church. They are super affordable and fit in your pocket wherever you go. Central Church took it a step further by punching a hole in the corners and adding a custom carabiner.

2. Starbucks Invite On Social Media

Our church has had a blast with this social post for big events. We use a gift card preloaded with a fixed amount and load it into the Starbucks app for monitoring. People will often pay for the person behind them in line or the drive through and give them an invite card.

3. “Who Are You Inviting?” Wall

Ideas like this are a great way to establish an “invite culture” in your church. NewSpring Church asked their congregation to write the names of the people they’re inviting on this chalkboard wall. I love the idea of writing a friend’s name and then texting them a picture letting them know that you were thinking of them.

4. Flyers In Local Places

Many businesses in your community have bulletin boards that get a surprising amount of attention. Posting flyers in coffee shops, bakeries, post offices, libraries, or even gas stations is an affordable way to get the word out. Remember to make these flyers available to your congregation to post in their favorite places.

5. Kids Ministry Invites

Get the kids in on the invite fun, too! Central Church provided this door-hanger kit for kids to surprise their friends with a small egg hunt in their front yard. Another simpler route that we’re trying at our church this Easter is a coloring page with all of the event info printed on the back that our kids can color for their friends.

6. The “Empty Chair” Challenge

NewSong Church inspired their congregation to pray for the empty seat next to them and their friends who they’d invite to fill it. This is another great idea to establish an “invite culture.” What if you used this card to double as a personalized invite card?

7. Chick-Fil-A Coupon Giveaway

Try to establish a good relationship with your local Chick-Fil-A. The CFA near our church has given us over 1000 coupons for free chicken sandwiches to give away in our community. We have used these for “one year of free Chick-Fil-A” giveaways and even passed them out with flyers in local shopping centers. Free stuff is always a great way to begin a conversation.

8. Tag-A-Friend Social Post

Posts like this are an exciting way to get your church to invite their friends on social media. This works by instructing them to leave a friendly comment that tags the friends they want to invite. This works really well for exposure when you pay to boost these posts on Facebook!

What a great list of creative invites. Love it! Think I will borrow some.

I love CFA but would consider the person to whom I was giving the card before presenting it. I don’t want to start a debate with someone if I’m inviting them to church. A McD’s or KFC coupon works just as well and carries no political baggage.
